Fellas, what was yoir first time playing HL2, can you recall? Wasn't it so very intriguing when you get off the train and catch the first impressions of this gray and oppressed city? You see those Metrocops for the first time, being everywhere, and you wanna know what they do here. You meet the Resistance and your old pal, you see how resisting activity is alive but still yet, empty streets, no children, Combine bustling into blocks to compromise supposed threats. It's all so beautiful

i was playing gmod like i normally do and i thought, what is half-life 2? since all of HL2's assets come with GMOD, so i got HL2 and for the entire time of me playing i thought, i can't believe this the game that GMOD is built off of.

This might be a little bit embarrasing, but the first time i played HL2 was in a pirated copy. But i liked the ambience change, tho

At the end of 2004 or at the beginning of 2005, when my dad was stuck in d1_trainstation_06. I helped him and played a few "canals" maps.

I was like 12 when I first played it (and 11 or so when I tried the first one). And dude, it was the best thing I had experienced in my life. I was amazed of everything I saw: the story, all those Xen aliens but in HD, the ambience... The only downside I can tell about my experience is that I was playing with the Spanish dub (trust me, it's awful) but besides that, it became one of my favorite games of all time.

I was exposed to it when I was very young, when my brother and I watched dad play it on the og Xbox. I don't even remember much from it, but the ambience and feel of the game stuck with me and kept me thinking about it from the back of my head for pretty much my entire life since. I played Portal 2 with my brother on the Xbox 360 and loved it to bits. I got a bit Portal-obsessed, and I soon discovered that the Portal and Half-Life universes were the same, and that BLEW MY MIND. One of the first games I downloaded when I first got my own laptop was GMod, which I spent ages just messing around in and flying around with the Tardis addon. This was actually the first time I heard the HL2 soundscapes, and I just got so obsessed with them. I don't know what it was about them, but I sometimes found myself just sitting and listening to them in the background for a while. I first decided to actually play the dang series back when there were rumours of a VR Half-Life game circulating the internet, and I played through Half-Life, the Black Mesa, then Half-Life 2 and its episodes over the course of a year. I loved every single second of it, and I can say for certain that it's my favourite game series of all time, rivalling Portal that came before it! And last year I was finally able to play HLA for the first time, and it was probably the most immersed I had ever been in a videogame... ever. It was a life-changing experience playing through it, and I realised then and there that this series was probably the most important fictional narrative in existence. So yeah, I was a Valve fan in the back of my mind since I was a little boy and didn't even realise it, haha.

Nov 2004. I had waited five years for the game, had a stack of PC gaming magazines with HL2 stuff in them along with posters on my wall. I got to play it around three days after it released due to some issues with delivery (I pre-ordered my copy) Those were the days!

I was dying with amusement when I saw the beginning cutscene thingy of GMan speaking his regular antics alongside Black Mesa Test Labs being shown at his back...

Discovered Half-Life waaay back in 2014 when Garry's Mod was getting popular. Specifically the rise of VenturianTale.

When I first played HL2, it was just as wonderful as I imagined. I could tell that this game changed gaming.

My dad had an old steam account, given to us by a friend. Had a few decent games at the time like HL, Portal, and HL2. We had a very slow internet so it took a few days to download. When it finally downloaded, I enter the room with my dad finishing the setup and running the game. The moment I saw the chapter intro "Point Insertion", I recognize the font from hl1 and start off from there. It was such an amazing experience. Had an old Pentium 4, waited over a minute to transition between levels. Good effing times, man.
