I think intention was, that you not smash but knocking them out. And
1) There few concrete barriers so no wonder train knock them out easily.
2) Sandbags would be heavier (bealieve it or not) and was not crudely made up. So most likely would happen. Train would just smash into them, maybe knocking few out, but it would he result in engine being smashed,
