We already got Half-Life 1. Why would we need any sequels?

That's exactly what a person in denial of the rust progression would say. The maps are the same. The walls and grunts remained the same but the generator became rusty and the pipes fell off from the degradation.

No, it's disinformation. It's just the same map, but in a different iteration. Where the pump is rusty - that's an older version of the map; where it's not rusty - that's a newer version. In the screenshot with the rusty pump: - The top of the pump looks more rounded. - The lighting is brighter and poorly adjusted. - If Valve wanted to show the pipe had fallen, they would have placed it near the pump and placed decals or other elements to show that it fell off. In the screenshot with the non-rusty pump: - The top of the pump looks flatter. - The lighting is less bright and more polished. - And most importantly: the lighting behind the pipe is different - there's a shadow! GoldSrc and Source 1 can technically change lighting dynamically, but the result will be low quality. I doubt Valve would waste resources on lighting just to impress players. Volvo loves changing the same thing 500 times, so this is just another iteration - not some "secret rust growth."
That's alot of words in support of denial of rust progression and I'm not having any of it. -of course the rusty pump would be more rounded. Its been rusted. -what is 3dfx voodoo gamma and why does it make games look more washed out. -you can change lightmaps on brushes just look at light_shadow. -valve is known for having details and removing details because of weak pc users who refuse to get strong pc.
