Greetings, dear fans of the Half-Life universe! I have been collaborating with Gamefinity for a long time now and now we are ready to present one of the most unusual modifications designed to show the very first version of Half-Life 2, as it was conceived long before Beta. Pre-Pitch Storyline This mod is a unique take on the original Half-Life 2 concept, and takes players back to the early days of Half-Life 2's development. Gordon Freeman isn't fighting the Combine, but three alien races: G-Man race, Insectoids and Horde. Each race boasts its own capital city, and the mod takes place in the heart of the G-Man's city fortress. This is where your little journey begins! It's worth noting that the team is also busy developing Out of Aperture. Out of Aperture is an alternative take on Portal set in an English steampunk setting and will introduce a new protagonist who will try to escape from the Gear Robotics Science Innovations complex. so this is would be the "Hyper" / 1999 Era?

Hyper Era was the very early version of the Beta. The Pre-Pitch Era had pretty much no elements of the beta in it and started almost right after HL1 released (1998). Pre-Pitch Era had Gordon travelling to different planets and G-Man would be of much more help and was on Freeman's side.
