I adore and massively appreciate all the fans that have given their time and effort to creating content for the community. The HL2 Remade Assets teams has done some AMAZING work. With that said, I find it an incredible missed opportunity that the remade HL2 food rations packet does not match the colors & material of the existing HL:A food rations, so that they could all fit together as a cohesive set. Sure, the remade HL2 rations packet is using colors closer to what they were in HL2, however, HL:A has already established the hi-res Source 2 precedent with their assets, so I think any remade HL2 assets need to fit into this new standard. This is my opinion, but I hope these considerations are helpful for future modders and asset makers. Details matter.
I was actually looking at the same thing today. Trying to give a retexture to some stuff and wanted to be accurate, if you look at the font, they got it wrong too, notice the curve to the "R"s in the official compared to the fan recreation.
Yeah, they clearly took a lot of creative liberties...I just think it wouldn't have been that hard to match the existing assets.
So, you're going to eat that or?
